Our Story

Catalina Castillo grew up on her family’s coffee farm in Tarrazú, where her father carries on a legacy as the third generation of coffee farmers.

After finishing university, she moved to the Middle East to work as cabin crew, discovering new cultures and tasting coffees from around the world, always reminding her of home.

In 2023, she founded Manural to share her Costa Rican roots and family tradition, inspired by her passion to carry their legacy forward and see her father finally enjoying his own coffee, which had been cultivated with love and pride for decades.

Nature of Tarrazú

Tarrazú is known for its exceptional coffee beans, harvested above 1,800 meters and protected under the Tarrazú PDO (Protected Designation of Origin).

Rich volcanic soil, high altitude, and cool climate give our beans distinct organoleptic characteristics.

SHB - Strictly Hard Bean - known for its full body, bright acidity, and fine aroma with intense notes of chocolate, citrus, and tropical fruits, complemented by a delicate floral fragrance.

Tarrazú’s coffee is renowned for its distinguished quality, artisanal harvesting, and natural processing methods.

As the birthplace of the Honey Process, Costa Rica has set a global standard, and Tarrazú’s unique tasting notes are highly prized by the world’s most discerning coffee markets.

    Many winning farms in the Cup of Excellence, under the standards of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) in Costa Rica are from Tarrazú.
